Our approach
How we build great companies
Purpose, put into practice, makes a small business more durable.

An independent sponsor,
one company at a time
Jasper Lane is an independent sponsor. We don't manage a traditional fund with money waiting to be spent. We invest in one company at a time, help put the right people in place, and stay involved long after close.
That means every deal is evaluated and structured on its own merits, with no fund clock forcing a sale. Owners know who they're working with. Leaders know who they answer to. The people who back a company know exactly what they're part of.
Where we invest
The companies we back
Small businesses employ nearly half of the private workforce in the United States, and they anchor the towns they're in. Many were built by owners now deciding what comes next. That's where patient ownership and the right people change the most lives, so that's where we work.
Size
Annual revenue typically under $20 million.
Industries
Wide variety ranging from trades, light manufacturing, distribution, services, healthcare, hospitality and beyond.
Situation
An owner planning a succession or gradual transition, or a company ready for growth capital or leadership.
Growth potential
Room to reach new markets, customers, and products, and to put technology and AI to work.
Alignment
Owners and teams who care about their people, customers, and community.
Six bottom lines
A great company does right by everyone it touches. We measure progress across six bottom lines. Financial performance runs through all six of them, not beside them.
Employees
Good jobs, room to grow, a real stake in how the company does, and a place where people feel valued.
Customers
Earn their trust so they come back and bring others with them.
Suppliers
Fair, steady relationships with the vendors and service providers a company depends on.
Markets
Raise the bar for peers and for the industry the company calls home.
Communities
Stronger towns, cities, and neighborhoods where the company works and its people live.
Investors
Owners and investors get a direct line of sight into the company and impact.

Jasper Lane Purpose Scorecard
How we hold ourselves accountable
Purpose only matters if you can see it. The Jasper Lane Purpose Scorecard seeks to operationalize purpose and tracks how a company is doing across all six bottom lines, side by side with the financials. Owners, leaders, and investors look at the same picture, and purpose stays a practice instead of a slogan.
We work with each company to decide how every bottom line is measured and how often. The score shows owners and leaders where to focus next.

How we work with a company
No two companies get the same plan. The pattern is consistent, though.
What we bring to each step
Capital
Equity, debt, or a mix, structured for the company.
Capacity
Extra hands when a company is stretched thin, from an experienced operator to help with accounting or IT, if the company wants it.
Advice
A second opinion on the big decisions, like planning a succession or turning purpose into goals you can measure.
Find the right fit
We look for good businesses with owners who care what happens to their people and their customers after a transition.
Structure for the company
Equity, debt, or a mix. Capital that fits the company you built, not a template.
Put the right leaders in place
When a company needs new leadership, we help find and place an operator who fits its people and its purpose.
Stay for the long run
No fund clock and no set date to sell. The company's leaders run the business, and we're a sounding board when they want one. We build the company, not the exit.
Common questions
What is an independent sponsor?
An independent sponsor is a private investment firm that invests one company at a time instead of through a committed fund. Jasper Lane finds a company, works out terms with the owner, helps place leadership where needed, and stays involved long after close.
How is Jasper Lane different from a private equity fund?
We aren't on a fund clock. There's no set date that forces a sale, so decisions follow what's right for the company and its people, not a fund's timeline. Each deal is evaluated and structured on its own, and we measure success across six bottom lines: employees, customers, suppliers, markets, communities, and investors.
What are multiple bottom lines?
Multiple bottom lines means judging a company by how it serves employees, customers, suppliers, markets, communities, and investors. Financial performance runs through all six.
Where is Jasper Lane based?
Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. We work with companies across the United States.
